Chinese peasants shut down polluting industrial park

June 14, 2005

Peasants in a township southwest of Shanghai protested against an industrial park that was polluting their water and had it partially shut down, in the process they managed to battle and beat back a force of 3000 cops that were bussed into kick them out.

Angry residents overturned several police cars April 10 during a peasant revolt in which police officers carrying out a raid were beaten and driven away by 20,000 residents protesting an industrial park that was eventually shut down.

In China, when the peasants start revolting, the government better start listening or it can be lights out.
